Acolyte's Variable White RibbonLyte Can Improve Your Sleep and Overall Health

Date: October 13, 2016

Good sleep leads to good health. Research shows that the amount of quality light we are exposed to every day plays a crucial role in regulating our circadian rhythm.

Circadian rhythms are physical, mental and behavioral changes that follow a roughly 24-hour cycle, responding primarily to light and darkness in a human's environment. Light is the main cue influencing circadian rhythms, turning on or turning off genes that control one's internal clock. Research shows the fact that the lack of blue spectrum light aids in the body's resting state of night.

By using Acolyte's Variable White Amber RibbonLyte, it would allow the user to use a bluer light in the morning and afternoon (by keeping the light around 6000K) and then adjust the light to a mix of warm white and amber, or even fully amber, in the evening. If a hospital or healthcare facility wanted to keep a very dim amber light on overnight, this would allow the room to be bright enough to check on patients, while minimizing the interference of the light on a patient's sleep cycle.

The Acolyte Glass Controller plays a critical role in this, by maintaining the proper color temperatures at specific points throughout the day and night.
